Durdle Door is a popular astrophotography spot, South facing, dark skies and of course, spectacular. I’ve visited a couple of times to shoot the night sky there but on this occasion I got lucky and was the only person there.

Once my cameras were set up which is tricky in the dark, (I like to use my head torch as little as possible to let my eyes tune into their ‘night vision’) there’s not much to do but allow myself time to ponder and gaze out at the universe. I love to sit/lie down and let my mind just drift, a form of meditation I guess.

It’s a shame most of us can’t appreciate the night sky due to light pollution as gazing up at the heavens is a profound experience.
